This year Panasonic’s “Harit Umang” program not only engaged the urban youth, but also the rural youth by helping them nurture barren land through tree planting. The weed infestation replaced by trees also contributed to enhanced income for the farmers. A total of 1 lakh tree saplings of different species were planted with the support of rural farming communities, Gram Panchayats and schools in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and NCR region. We believe, activities such as tree planting and educating young India about the environmental issues is a small, yet progressive step towards nurturing the ecosystem.”
