Shankar Mahadeven to spread cancer awareness through live concert
Jaipur: Noted Bollywood Singer and Composer Shankar Mahadevan performed live for cancer patients in ‘The Awake’ music concert held today at Entertainment Paradaise, Jaipur. The musical concert was organized by Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital & Research Center, Cancer Care (Women Wing) and HSH Foundation. This was city’s first ever live music concert, meant to spread awareness about Cancer and to support cancer patients.
The musical evening began with a welcome speech by Shri Navratan Kothari, Chairman, BMCHRC which was followed by a ganesh vandana on ‘Ekadantaya Vakratundaya’ by dancer Raagini Eshwar and later Director and Writer Rajendra Payal presented a small play depicting the 98% success of blood cancer in kids and how with a small contribution for the needy cancer patients one can help make society cancer-free. The main attractions of the play were small cancer patients’ kids who along with the professional theater artists gave a strong message about cancer awareness and to support cancer patients by showcasing that even though cancer treatment is expensive but still it is a preventive disease.
And then Singer Shankar Mahadevan with his troupe made Jaipurites ‘Breathless’ and dance on the tunes of ‘Jhoom Barabar’, ‘Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe Kitna Bhi Humko Deewana..’, ‘Mitwa’, ‘Senorita’ and many more. During his performance Shankar Mahadevan asserted that how it is our social responsibility to make people aware about Cancer and its symptoms.
Before the musical evening, Shankar Mahadevan visited BMCHRC and launched ‘Breast Cancer Recurrence Prevention’ project. Speaking about the project, Ms. Anika Kothari, President, Cancer Care Wing shared that, “Under this project, free hormone therapy will be provided to the ER/PR Positive breast cancer patient after surgery/ radiation/ chemo therapy.” Shankar Mahadevan also spent time with cancer kids where he motivated them and presented gifts.
