Take the Best Care of Your Baby’s Skin This Winter
The cold, dry winter air can be harsh on baby's delicate skin, and along with it comes a host of skin problems like dryness, itching, and rashes.Speaking to parents on why extra moisturization is important for baby’s skin, Dr. Subhashini N S, Ayurveda Expert, The Himalaya Drug Company, says, “Extra moisturization for dry skin becomes particularly important during winter, because cold air doesn't carry as much moisture as warm air. Thus, maintaining a skin care routine and using natural products free from parabens, alcohol, artificial color/dyes, mineral oils, SLS/SLES/ALES, and phthalates duringwinter is of utmost importance for your baby’sskin.”
She further recommends parents to use a mild baby wash enriched with Indian Aloe, Almond Oil, and Olive Oil,which helps nourish and maintain the moisture balance ofbaby’s skin. For parents who prefer using a soap for their baby’s bath, Dr. Subhashini suggests using a soap infused with the goodness of Indian Aloe, Milk, Almond Oil, and Olive Oil, which is formulated specifically to manage excessive dry skin in babies.
“Moisturizing the skin postbath is of utmost importance as it helps prevent excessive dryness and protect baby’s chapped cheeks, 'crawler's knee', tender nose, and rubbed elbows. Parents can opt for a gentle baby lotion infused with Olive Oil,which helps protect skin, and Almond Oil,whichhelps moisturize baby’s skin. Parents can also opt for a baby cream with Licorice, which helps protect and soothe baby's skin, and Olive Oil,which nourishes, protects, and softens skin,” says Dr. Subhashini.
She also stresses on the need to change baby’s diapers often, as wet diapers can lead to infections and rashes. “Always use gentle wipesinfused with the goodness of Aloe Vera and Indian Lotus to cleanse and refresh your baby’s delicate skin as it helps keep it soft and supple,” adds Dr. Subhashini.
