Chemical Free Herbal Sanitisers by MUJ Research Scholars
Jaipur: As we are aware that the entire world is under very critical situation due to COVID19 virus and in such situation, to combat against such deadly virus and to remain healthy, apart from the social distancing, one of the requirements is washing the hands thoroughly using sanitizer or soap. Suddenly the requirement of sanitizers surged to a never expected number. People started selling sanitizers at almost double the actual price and the need of the hour was to prepare low cost sanitizer. As a social corporate responsibility, to counter the current ongoing coronavirus (COVID- 19) pandemic, Manipal University Jaipur came forward and research scholars of department of Chemistry, School of Basic Sciences prepared two varieties of herbal sanitizers. One of the important features of these sanitizers is that these are skin friendly and do not have any synthetic chemical content.
These herbal sanitizers were prepared by research scholars, Ms. Priyanka Pareek and Ms. Mumal Singh, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Lalita Ledwani (Director, School of Basic Sciences). As per the Research Scholars these sanitisers were prepared using 75% of alcoholic content and 25% include natural ingredients extract such as Neem, Aloe Vera etc. without using any of the synthetic chemicals.
Dr. Lalita stated that Manipal University Jaipur always encourages research activities and can provide solutions to the problems prevailing in the society. Further, she said these herbal sanitisers will be extremely helpful under the COVID- 19 scenario which will help to fight against the coronavirus and can kill 99.9% of germs.
